Cecilia Solorio announces her resignation from Etiwanda School District Board of Trustees

Cecilia Solorio announced her resignation from the Etiwanda School District's Governing Board of Trustees on Jan. 17.
Solorio, who has an elementary school named after her in Fontana, has served in the district for almost 38 years.
She has been a popular representative for residents in the Etiwanda District, which includes the northwestern part of Fontana as well as Rancho Cucamonga.
She received the 2013 Distinguished Service Award from the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools.
"She has worked diligently as a board member to ensure that our 'small town' traditions of schools continue as welcoming places with strong parent involvement and high quality teaching," said Shawn Judson, the Etiwanda superintendent, during the Distinguished Service Award presentation.
Solorio has earned many other honors over the years. The Parent Teachers Association conferred its Honorary Service Award on Solorio, who previously had served as a school PTA president, room mother, band booster and school site council member at Etiwanda Intermediate School.
At a special meeting on Jan. 23, the Board of Trustees took action to fill the vacancy created by Solorio's resignation through a provisional appointment process.
Residents of the Etiwanda School District who are interested in being considered for appointment to fill this vacancy must complete an application and submit the application to the superintendent’s office of the Etiwanda School District, located at 6061 East Avenue in Etiwanda.
Applications must be received at the superintendent’s office no later than 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8. The application and related materials are available upon request by contacting the superintendent’s office at (909) 803-3101, or are available via the district website at www.etiwanda.org.

An optional information meeting for interested candidates is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the Etiwanda Education Center's board room
